(Brussels, Belgium) – – – Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes is proud to announce the debut of an exciting new social media feature in its Clinical Practice Guidelines for Kidney Disease app. The app’s reinvigorated Community section has now been seamlessly integrated with Twitter, allowing users to be part of the global nephrology conversation without ever having to exit the app itself.
The new social feature within the Community section of the app provides users with a window into the ongoing dialog among the world’s leading nephrologists, healthcare practitioners, patients & nephrology organizations. Users are now able to tweet relevant text directly from any KDIGO guideline in the app along with their own comments. The personal Twitter accounts of app users can also be easily configured to appear in the Community section’s new ‘My Feed’ channel. This exciting new feature enables users to stay informed of, and participate in, the most relevant and important issues facing the nephrology community.
The KDIGO Clinical Practice Guidelines app was unveiled at the American Society of Nephrology’s “Kidney Week” meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, USA during the first week of November 2013. The KDIGO app has since been downloaded more than 3,500 times in countries across the globe including the United States, Mexico and the Philippines.
Future phases of the KDIGO Clinical Practice Guidelines app will include availability on the iPhone and Android platforms. KDIGO also plans to develop a tool for the app that applies the science-based recommendations of KDIGO guidelines to specific patient-centered treatment plans. The KDIGO Clinical Practice Guidelines for Kidney Disease app is supported by an educational grant from Shire International GmbH.
