KDIGO is holding an open call for qualified methodologists to join the KDIGO Methods Committee through March 31, 2026.
Role and responsibilities
KDIGO Methods Committee members provide essential oversight and technical guidance to Guideline Work Groups, ensuring all guideline publications adhere to the KDIGO Methods Manual. Key responsibilities include upholding scientific rigor, addressing emerging methodological challenges, and ensuring cross-guideline consistency.
Serving on the Methods Committee offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the development of global clinical practice guidelines and to help shape how evidence is evaluated and translated into recommendations to improve the care and outcomes of people with kidney disease.
Mentorship and fellowship
The Committee also oversees the KDIGO Guideline Methodology Fellowship, launched in 2025 to bridge the gap in rigorous methods training within nephrology. Methods Committee members serve as mentors to a few fellows, guiding them in evidence appraisal, quality grading, and structured consensus building for global clinical recommendations. Through this mentorship role, Committee members play a key part in strengthening future leadership in guideline development and building long-term methodological capacity in nephrology.
Time commitment
- Term length: Typically, three years, though duration may vary based on specific guideline assignments.
- Meeting cadence: Monthly meetings for the full Methods Committee and Methods fellows.
- Guideline-specific involvement: Members assigned to a specific guideline in development will participate in biweekly progress calls with Guideline Chairs, the Evidence Review Team, and KDIGO staff. They will also be invited to attend all in-person Guideline meetings. These calls will be in addition to the monthly Methods Committee calls.
How to apply
Candidates may self-nominate or submit nominations on behalf of their peers. Qualified applicants should have experience in guideline development methodology (special preference to candidates with experience in the GRADE methodology for guideline development), systematic review, and evidence synthesis. Nephrologists and non-nephrologists can apply. KDIGO values candidates who are collaborative, committed to scientific integrity, and interested in contributing to international guideline development in kidney disease.
To apply or nominate a candidate, email KDIGOCommunications@kdigo.org with a brief statement of interest and the candidate’s CV. The submission deadline is March 31, 2026.
