(Brussels, Belgium) – – – – Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) is proud to announce the launch of the KDIGO Patient Network. KDIGO develops Clinical Practice Guidelines and holds Controversies Conferences with the aim of improving care and outcomes worldwide for people with kidney disease. We believe it is important to understand and include the experiences and perspectives of patients and their families in our work, so that our guidelines and conference reports are relevant and informative.

KDIGO wants to know as much as possible about the opinions and priorities of patients. In order to achieve this goal, we invite patients with chronic kidney disease or with a kidney transplant to join the KDIGO Patient Network. Your involvement can help to ensure that our guidelines and conferences reports address patient needs and priorities, and you will receive information about opportunities to be involved in KDIGO-related activities.

Specifically, KDIGO plans to hold focus groups with patients over the coming months and will look to the KDIGO Patient Network to find participants. All of our guidelines and conference reports also include public review periods, and we would appreciate patient participation in that process. KDIGO will email you a link where your comments and involvement can most efficiently be brought to the volunteers who plan these activities.

For those that are not patients themselves, if you could share with your patient networks, that would be most appreciated.
