New 2019 KDIGO Executive Committee

(Brussels, Belgium) – – – – Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) announces its new Executive Committee members for 2019. The Executive Committee is KDIGO’s governing body and sets policy and direction for the organization.

New members for 2019 are:

As previously announced, Michel Jadoul of UCLouvain, Belgium also started his term as KDIGO Co-Chair on January 1, 2019, succeeding David Wheeler, UK.

“As I begin my first year as Co-Chair, I recognize we are building on the excellent leadership provided by our Executive Committee. We deeply thank the six members who retire, but acknowledge it’s important to our organization that we keep bringing in new people, perspectives, and ideas. The alumni will become part of our Global Volunteer Network and we will not hesitate to ask them to contribute on various KDIGO programs and projects.”

The new KDIGO Executive Committee additions join returning members:

Members who retired at the end of 2018 are as follows:

KDIGO Co-Chair Wolfgang Winkelmayer said, “We are thrilled with the excellent individuals joining our Executive Committee. Our Nominating Committee did a great job in recruiting colleagues at different career stages and with complementary areas of expertise. And, while KDIGO always strives to achieve truly global representation, I am particularly delighted to see that women and men are equally represented in this year’s Executive Committee.”

Incoming KDIGO Co-chair Michel Jadoul said, “As I begin my first year as Co-Chair, I recognize we are building on the excellent leadership provided by our Executive Committee. He added, “Volunteers are the driving force in KDIGO, and we are fortunate to have worked with these top scientists and clinicians from all over the world. They have made and will make our progress possible.”

KDIGO is a Belgian foundation committed to developing and implementing nephrology guidelines that improve patient outcomes on a global basis.
