The IACN-KDIGO Joint Symposium from the 5th International Congress of Chinese Nephrologists (ICCN) was held in Hong Kong from December 13-15, 2024. This symposium featured leading experts discussing the latest advancements in IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD), providing valuable insights into disease pathogenesis, treatment strategies, and collaborative care approaches.

The symposium on IgAN included presentations by Sydney Tang, MD (Hong Kong) on regional differences in clinical presentation, Hong Zhang, MD (China) on new insights into pathogenesis and targeted treatments, and Jonathan Barratt, MD (UK) on the evolving landscape of IgAN therapies.

The symposium on DKD featured Juliana Chan, MD (Hong Kong) discussing primary and collaborative CKD care in diabetic patients, Meg Jardine, MD (Australia) examining the benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists, and Connie Rhee, MD (USA) presenting the ADA-KDIGO consensus report on diabetes management in CKD.
