[Brussels, Belgium] Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) announces the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), John Davis. Mr. Davis has been the head of KDIGO since its inception. He has led the nephrology guideline development process since 1985, first with the National Kidney Foundation and for the last 12 years with KDIGO as an independent organization.

Mr. Davis will assume the role of CEO-Emeritus and will remain involved with the organization as a volunteer. Danielle Green, KDIGO Executive Director, will assume the role of CEO. Ms. Green was part of the KDIGO founding team and has been instrumental in assuring the organization’s financial base and its relationships with key volunteers and corporate sponsors.

Mr. Davis said, “I’ll miss the day-to-day progress and work of KDIGO, but I know that Danielle will step right in and keep KDIGO’s progress on track. She is the ideal person for the role, is globally oriented, and is highly respected by our team and partners. I’m incredibly proud of KDIGO’s reputation for high standards and competence built through the hard work of our team and volunteer leaders. It has been a pleasure and honor to lead the staff and work with renowned nephrologists from around the world on important programs that help our patients.”

KDIGO is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and disseminating nephrology guidelines globally. Since its inception, KDIGO has become a respected part of the community of scientists, clinicians, and patients working to incorporate the best science available in the regular practice of nephrology. KDIGO is known for its rigorous evidence-based process in guideline development, using an independent evidence review team and bringing patients and specialists from many disciplines together for a collaborative approach to kidney disease treatment.
