kThe KDIGO Controversies Conference on APOL1 Kidney Disease brought together key thought leaders and relevant stakeholders, including patients, and experts in nephrology and other related disciplines (genetics, epidemiology, ethics, immunology, etc) to comprehensively review the literature and current state of understanding in this area and address clinical issues. The conference output will include the publication of a position statement that will help guide KDIGO and others on the therapeutic management and future research in APOL1 kidney disease.

Drs. Akinlolu (“Ojo”) Ojo (University of Kansas School of Medicine, United States) and Ifeoma Ulasi (University of Nigeria College of Medicine, Nigeria) co-chaired this conference.
