Target Audience

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of nephrologists, nephrology nurses, and nurse practitioners involved in managing and treating anemia in patients on dialysis.

 

Program Description

Join an expert panel of nurses and clinicians as they discuss recent advances in the treatment of anemia in patients on dialysis.

 

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Identify the mechanisms of action underlying current available therapies for anemia-CKD, namely, iron agents, ESA therapies and HIF-PHIs
  • Describe key clinical trial programs for HIF-PHIs in the dialysis populations, specifically, their therapeutic efficacy, effect on quality of life, and cardiovascular and kidney safety profiles
  • Outline the potential interactions of HIF-PHIs with iron agents and potential indications for their use in CKD
  • Cite practical management strategies governing the optimal use of HIF-PHI inhibitors (e.g., dosing, Hb targets)
